Cranfield University is a postgraduate only specialist for research and teaching in science, engineering, technology and management. Cranfield is the largest home to soil scientists at any British University with a long tradition and great breadth of expertise in soil science. With a history of soil mapping, GIS and erosion control, other strengths now include soil microbiology and soil-plant interactions, all of which form part of the Cranfield Soil and AgriFood Institute. Within this institute, sits NSRI which holds the National Soil Inventory for England and Wales and operates the LANDIS website.
