Ecologic Institute is a private not-for-profit think tank for applied environmental research, policy analysis and consultancy. It provides independent expert advice on environmental policy developments in the EU, sustainable soil and water management, climate change mitigation and adaptation, economic valuation of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Ecologic Institute has been involved, either as coordinator or partner institution, in numerous FP6 and FP7 projects, as well
as national research projects and service contracts for the European Commission and other sponsors. Ecologic Institute's current and recent projects addressing sustainable land management, soil protection and land degradation processes, include: RECARE, SmartSOIL, LEDDRA, PICCMAT, GLOBALANDS (Global Land use and Sustainability), EUSOIL (Evaluation of soil protection measures), Economic valuation of soil ecosystem functions, and Ecosystem based approaches for climate change adaptation and mitigation.
